Heroin Take-Down: Thirty-Seven Indicted in Youngstown, Elsewhere

Youngstown, Ohio:    On June 29, 2012, law enforcement announced thirty-seven (37) State and Federal Indictments issued as a result of a three-year investigation lead by the FBI’s Violent Crimes Task Force here in Youngstown, Ohio.

The action demonstrates law enforcement’s overall efforts in the Mahoning Valley of Northeast Ohio to attack gangs and violent crime.  Over the last several years the FBI’s Violent Crimes Task Force has evolved and developed a strategic plan that includes new community partnerships and initiatives.

To that end, the task force has closely collaborated with local law enforcement, including the Mahoning Valley Law Enforcement Task Force and the Youngstown Police Department; to aggressively target these violent criminals who are robbing the Youngstown community’s quality of life through violence and fear.

In fact, the Indictment is a direct result of commitments made to the FBI task force by the Youngstown Police Department, the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office, the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the Boardman Police Department, the Mahoning County Juvenile Justice Center, and many others.   Without this cooperation and a like-minded effort between these law enforcement offices, community leaders, and prosecutors; investigations such as this would not exist.

Since this case originated, the task force has seized firearms, heroin, marijuana, cocaine, and approximately $150-thousand-dollars of drug money that fueled the group’s activities.

If you know the whereabouts of one of these fugitives or information on violent crime, please submit your tip at www.ValleyTaskForce.com/tip.

NOTE: Twenty-five additional subjects are also sought as a result of Federal and State Indictments issued in this case. When appropriate, they will be listed here.
