Crisis Response Team (SWAT)

The Mahoning Valley Crisis Response Team (CRT), a multi-agency special weapons and tactics (SWAT) team serving most of Mahoning and Trumbull County, Ohio, was established in 2003. The CRT is made up of specially trained local law enforcement officers from throughout the two-county area.  Positions within the CRT include tactical operators, hostage negotiators, and other related support roles.

By combining resources,  the CRT saves participating communities substantial capital investment and provides their community members with a robust, professional, and highly trained SWAT team if the need arises. The team is available all year and at any hour.

The CRT is located with the FBI’s Mahoning Valley Violet Crimes Task Force (VCTF), a FBI Safe Streets & Gang Unit initiative; and the Mahoning Valley Law Enforcement Task Force (LETF), a High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) initiative.
